Format choice
GPS watch or handheld GPS?
The simple answer: choose a watch for speed, choose a handheld for a bigger screen.
Choose a watch if
You want yardages on your wrist.
- You want quick front, middle and back distances.
- You do not want to carry another device.
- You like scoring or shot-tracking features.
You want a bigger dedicated screen.
- You prefer map detail in your hand.
- You do not like wearing a watch.
- You want course planning rather than wrist convenience.
Our default recommendation: most golfers should start with a GPS watch. Move to handheld only if screen size or not wearing a watch matters more.
